Understanding Childhood Trauma

Childhood trauma refers to distressing experiences that happen early in life; such as abuse, neglect, loss, family conflict, or exposure to violence; that were too overwhelming to fully process at the time. These experiences often leave deep emotional wounds that affect how you see yourself, how safe you feel, and how you relate to others as an adult.

You may struggle with anxiety, low self-worth, trust issues, emotional numbness, or patterns you can’t seem to break, without always knowing why.

How Counselling Can Help with Childhood Trauma

Counselling provides a compassionate and confidential space to explore the impact of childhood trauma at your pace. You’ll be supported in understanding how past experiences shaped your beliefs, behaviour, and emotional responses. Through trauma-informed therapy, we can begin to gently process unresolved pain, build emotional safety, and reconnect with your sense of self.

Healing from childhood trauma is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone.

Sessions are available face-to-face in Rotherham or online

I offer clients the chance to work through their issues in a safe, non-judgmental space, using an integrative approach, which helps me to meet client’s individual needs.

To make my sessions as accessible as possible, I also offer online sessions.
