Understanding Body Image Issues
Body image isn’t just about how you look, it’s about how you feel in your body and how much your appearance affects your self-esteem and daily life. Struggles with body image can lead to feelings of shame, anxiety, isolation, or low confidence. In some cases, it may also be linked to disordered eating or past trauma.
Social media, unrealistic beauty standards, health messaging, and personal experiences can all shape how you relate to your body, sometimes in painful or unhealthy ways.
How Counselling Can Help with Body Image
In counselling, you’ll have a space to talk openly about your body image experiences without fear of judgement. We’ll explore where your negative beliefs have come from, what keeps them going, and how they impact your thoughts, emotions, and behaviour. Together, we’ll work towards building a more compassionate and realistic relationship with your body.
